The San and Khoi Genocide Memorial (1702-1809) commemorates the San and Khoi who died in their struggle for freedom. This monument stands on a hill outside Graaff-Reinet on the road to Port Elizabeth and seeks to acknowledge the San and Khoi as the first indigenous people who fought to liberate South Africa. In particular, the role of Kabo, Heikon, Ndlambe and Makana as leaders in the pursuit of justice, peace and freedom is commemorated. This memorial was unveiled on 17 March 2006 by Mrs. Nomsa Jajula, the Member of the Executive Council for Sport, Recreation and Culture of the Eastern Cape Province.
Sadly it has been badly vandalized over the years and is almost beyond repair.
